Objectives
The objective of the ELM Corporate Council is to create a working alliance between the corporate sector and environmental advocates to improve environmental policy and business practice in the Commonwealth. The Council will represent a counter-intuitive, pro-business and pro-environment association that educates and advocates for sound environmental and business regulatory policy.
Key elements are:
- To develop a business-environmental public policy agenda and alliance to lobby state and local government jointly on behalf of environmentally-sensitive business practices and environmental regulations generally.
- To showcase corporate environmental innovations as teachable models for others to adopt.
Guidelines
Invitations to participate in the Corporate Council are guided by the following principles:
- ELM will not associate with any corporate entity that is actively and consistently supporting environmental practices or policies opposed by ELM, regardless of other corporate initiatives that may be beneficial to the environment.
- In determining Council membership, ELM will consider compliance history, environmental performance relative to others in their sector, business model, and corporate reputation.
- ELM will not endorse a corporate entity generally, but will focus on a particular environmental innovation or extraordinary commitment to specific environmental safeguards.
