Retired and Senior Volunteer Program

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Berkshire County, MA adopted The Common, a 7.1 Acre park on First Street, through the City of Pittsfield's Adopt A Park Program. The primary goal of the program is to enhance the appearance, character and quality of the city's diverse Parks system. The program is not intended to replace, but rather to assist the Pittsfield Parks Department in the general maintenance of city parks like the Common, making the park friendlier for neighbors as well as more visually attractive to tourists.

RSVP is asking for volunteers of all ages to commit to one hour a week to help this cause. Volunteers can either weed the gardens for an hour, deadhead and water the new flowers in the boxes along First Street, go for a walk through the park while picking up trash with litter sticks, or help with the Parks Dept on Friday nights by selling concessions to moviegoers. That one hour will not only help to clean up the park, but it will also create a community presence that is so desperately needed at the Common.
