3. Leave a Lasting Legacy
ELM has been fighting to protect the Massachusetts environment since 1898, and we intend to still be fighting in 2098. Please help us protect the Massachusetts environment for future generations by including ELM in your estate plans.
Ways to give
- Bequests: A simple way to leave a lasting gift is to name ELM as a beneficiary in your will, by a sum of dollars or a percentage of your estate. It costs you nothing now, and you can change the terms at any time. When meeting with your attorney to discuss estate planning, please consider including ELM in your plans.
Feel free to use this sample language: "I bequeath to the Environmental League of Massachusetts, Inc. (ELM), a charitable corporation established by law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the sum of ______ dollars (or percentage of estate) to be a) used for the general purposes of ELM at the direction of its Board of Directors or b) added to ELM’s permanent restricted endowment."
ELM's tax ID number is: 04-2760271.
- Retirement Assets: Your retirement plan or IRA is designed to support you during your retirement. If you pass away before the funds are depleted, they may be subject to significant estate taxes and income taxes. Naming ELM as a beneficiary of all or part of an IRA or retirement plan can reduce or eliminate the potential tax burden. After your lifetime, the asset will come directly to ELM without going through probate. Your estate will receive a charitable deduction for the amount of the gift.
Naming ELM as a beneficiary of your retirement plan is easy. Simply contact the administrator of your plan for a designation form. To complete the form, you need to provide ELM’s legal contact information: The Environmental League of Massachusetts, 14 Beacon Street, Suite 714, Boston, Massachusetts 02108; Taxpayer identification Number: 04-2760271; Relationship: Nonprofit Organization.
- ELM is also happy to work with you on a plan that best suits your financial and charitable goals. To begin a conversation about how you can help assure the future success of ELM through your estate planning, contact Ken Pruitt at email@example.com or call 617-742-2553 for more information.
Have you already included ELM in your plans? We would love to hear about it!
