Progress on Renewable Energy Expected in 2017

ELM and State House News Service see renewable energy developments likely in 2017 and 2018. ELM will be working to ensure that the state follows through with its commitments to procure large-scale hydropower and develop offshore wind farms. Other top legislative efforts include the removal of caps on solar net metering limits and increasing the state’s renewable portfolio standard, both of which would significantly increase clean energy. We also expect significant regulatory action as well with the finalization of a new state solar incentive program (which is in addition to net metering) and other regulatory efforts aimed at achieving the Commonwealth’s greenhouse gas reduction targets.
