Cheryl Smith is Economist and Portfolio Manager at Trillium Asset Management, LLC, an investment firm focused on sustainable and responsible investing. She is a Portfolio Manager on Trillium’s ESG Large Capitalization Core strategy, Trillium’s ESG Core Equity strategy, and the Green Century Balanced Fund. Cheryl’s prior experience includes Vice President, United States Trust Company (now known as Walden Asset Management, a division of Boston Trust and Investment Management Company) and Assistant Professor of Economics, University of Denver. Cheryl has served both as Chair of US SIF and as a Member of US SIF’s Board of Directors. She has also served as Chair of the Investment Committee and Member of the Board for Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, Massachusetts and as a Member of the Board of Directors of Oikocredit, USA. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Trillium Asset Management, LLC. Cheryl is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society Boston, the Boston Economic Club, and the American Economic Association.
Cheryl received her Ph.D. in Macroeconomics and Monetary Theory from Yale University. She also holds M. Phil. and M.A. degrees in Economics from Yale and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Cheryl lives in Cambridge with her husband Steve Cox.
