Wednesday Webinar Session 2: Climate Justice
We were honored to hear from Reverend Mariama White-Hammond, Climate Justice Fellow with the Green Justice Coalition and Associate Minister for Ecological Justice at the Bethel AME Church.
Reverend Mariama underscored the importance of recognizing that, while climate change will impact everyone, certain communities will be affected far more than others. It is those who are already struggling the most that will face more hardship when it comes to climate; what we have seen with COVID-19 underscores this truth. As we work to advocate for policy solutions in Massachusetts, we must fight for equity and not just reducing emissions. She challenged us to never go back to the “normal” that we had before this crisis, but to instead “transform our community and put ourselves into a more right relationship, one with another.”
