Revolution Wind, a major offshore wind project off the coast of Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, is now fully operational after nearly three years of construction. With 65 turbines capable of generating 704 megawatts of electricity, the project marks an important milestone in expanding New England’s clean energy supply.
“This is a huge moment for the region and for offshore wind,” said Katie Segal, ELM’s Senior Director of Offshore Wind, who supports the New England for Offshore Wind coalition. “Within New England, we’re going to have so many benefits from this project, and we’re really eager to see how those play out over the coming months and years.”
As New England for Offshore Wind works to advance responsible offshore wind development across the region, projects like Revolution Wind demonstrate the potential to reduce carbon emissions, strengthen grid reliability, lower energy costs, and create good-paying jobs. Its full operation represents meaningful progress toward a cleaner, more resilient energy future for New England.
