MA House Releases Offshore Wind Bill

(BOSTON, MA) January 12, 2022 – Today, the Massachusetts House of Representatives released an ambitious bill that would ensure the responsible development of offshore wind as well as create an investment fund for supply chain infrastructure, research, and workforce development.

If passed, the provisions in this bill would drive game changing investments that would position Massachusetts and New England as a hub for the burgeoning offshore wind industry. It would prioritize economic development; create tens of thousands of high-quality, family-sustaining jobs; and ensure wildlife and environmental protection.

This affordable, local, clean energy resource will be the linchpin in Massachusetts’ decarbonization strategy and provide tremendous economic opportunity. We thank Speaker Mariano and Chair Roy for their vision and leadership to ensure that the Commonwealth takes full advantage of that opportunity while building in safeguards for moving forward responsibly.

We look forward continued work with the Massachusetts legislature, our fellow New England states, and our federal partners to drive regional collaboration and advance the responsible development of this industry so that we can transition to a green and fair economy for all.
