ELM Statement on Senate Vote on Mass Leads Act

July 12, 2024 – ELM extends its thanks to the Senate, which yesterday voted to pass S.2856, An Act relative to strengthening Massachusetts’ economic leadership, otherwise known as the Mass Leads Act. This bill includes robust funding for a 10-year initiative to make Massachusetts a global hub for climatetech, thereby growing our state’s economy, building our clean energy workforce, driving competitive growth, and shaping a thriving clean energy future.

We appreciate the Senate for their support of climate innovation, with particular thanks to Senate President Karen Spilka, Chair Michael Rodrigues, Senator Barry Finegold, and Senator Edward J. Kennedy.

With both the House and Senate supporting significant climatetech provisions, ELM is optimistic as the legislation enters conference committee. We look forward to continuing our work with the Massachusetts Legislature to see a robust bill through the finish line.
