This week ELM successfully launched our Fiscal Year 2018 Green Budget, continuing our push for 1% of the state operating budget to support environmental programs. The launch event was well attended by Legislators and staff, including many from the freshmen class, as well as advocates and members of the Green Budget Coalition.
Remarks included a welcome by Rep. Paul Schmid, a Green Budget overview by ELM Legislative Director Erica Mattison, and remarks by hospitality industry leader Tedd Saunders of the Saunders Hotel Group, and Groundwork Lawrence Community Engagement Director Rose Gonzalez and Almely Ramos, a Green Team Leader and senior at Greater Lawrence Technical School.
Legislators are now urged to include line-item recommendations from the Green Budget report in their top priority budget requests to leadership. ELM and the rest of the Green Budget Coalition will continue to advocate for adequate environmental funding.
