NetZeroMA.org to Track Decisions Shaping Massachusetts Climate Progress

MAR. 10th, 2026 – Today marks the relaunch of NetZeroMA.org, a public accountability tool tracking the most consequential decisions shaping Massachusetts’ climate progress. The website, created by the Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM), informs the public, journalists, and lawmakers about where the Commonwealth has made meaningful progress or fallen short in meeting legally mandated climate targets.

Massachusetts has among the strongest climate laws in the nation, requiring the state to work towards decreasing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by 2030 and reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Passing smart legislation is only the beginning. Meeting our targets requires state officials and lawmakers to make sustained investment, pass complimentary policies, and drive effective implementation that demonstrates measurable and efficient progress.

At the same time, the volume and complexity of climate related initiatives across the state, region, and country have grown significantly. Tracking how these pieces fit together, and what they mean for Massachusetts’ future, can be difficult and time-consuming.

NetZeroMA.org addresses these gaps. Through this site, ELM tracks defining decisions and analyzes their real-world impact, providing clear summaries, expert analysis, and source documentation.

“Climate implementation is unfolding across dozens of partnerships, agencies, and processes, making it nearly impossible to follow without a centralized resource,,” said Amy Boyd Rabin, ELM’s VP of Policy & Regulatory Affairs. “NetZeroMA.org brings the most consequential actions into a single, accessible hub and provides context about what they mean for our climate trajectory. Accountability is critical, and we need a reliable tool to understand whether Massachusetts is truly delivering on its commitments.”

NetZeroMA.org is maintained by ELM as part of the organization’s broader work to advance climate policy and hold state leaders accountable for delivering results that improve public health, reduce energy costs, and support a clean energy economy.
