In 2015 Governor Baker issued Executive Order 562 which called for a review of every state regulation. While regulatory reviews are a relatively routine process, this particular order stated that regulations must have “no adverse affect on citizens or customers of the Commonwealth” and that they “not exceed federal requirements.” ELM, along with the other members of the 562 Coalition, helped ensure that the review didn’t eviscerate environmental, health and safety protections in Massachusetts.
The review process has served mainly as a house cleaning measure, with no substantial changes to state regulations at this time. Check out these articles to learn more and see quotes from our own Erica Mattison and George Bachrach.
