Corporate & Foundation Relations Manager

Reporting to: Vice President of Development
Supporting: ELM and the ELM Action Fund
Salary Range: $75,000-90,000 

The Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) and the ELM Action Fund (ELM AF) are committed to advocating for policy and building political power in Massachusetts to meet the scale and urgency of our environmental challenges. The Corporate & Foundation Relations Manager will be an integral member of a four-person Development Team and collegial and effective 19-person organization. We seek a dedicated and passionate team member to manage relationships, proposals, and reporting with current and prospective foundation and corporate partners. Additionally, they will conduct prospect research, manage stewardship and solicitation of middle donors ($500-$5,000), and support other Development processes, including fundraising appeals and acknowledgement letters. 

Responsibilities:
 

Foundation Relations 

  • Manage relationships with current foundation partners, including coordinating meetings, grant proposals, and reports 
  • Develop and drive strategies and tactics to strengthen relationships with current funders and build relationships with foundation prospects 
  • Assist in preparing grant budgets and timelines, and tracking grant spending 
  • Conduct research to identify new foundation prospects 

Corporate Relations 

  • Manage recruitment process and stewardship of ELM Corporate Council members, including coordinating outreach by Leadership Team members to corporate partners 
  • Coordinate outreach to potential sponsors for Earth Night, our largest annual event which in 2023 raised more than $500,000 from 61 sponsors and had more than 500 attendees 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with corporate partners 

Mid-Level Donor Program  

  • Steward and grow the program of supporters contributing $500-$5,000 
  • Create and implement stewardship plans with the goal of increasing their donations and engagement with the organization 
  • Ensure donors are kept up to date on news, events, policy wins, and emerging priorities 
  • Coordinate with leadership to manage communication with donors 

Additional Development Duties 

  • Review, edit, and approve gift acknowledgment letters twice weekly 
  • Assist in planning and execution of development events  
  • Support twice annual direct mail and accompanying email fundraising appeals 
  • Develop understanding of program work and policy goals to be able to articulate organizational value to funders 
  • Participate in setting of Development Team goals, objectives, and processes 

Qualifications:
 

Required 

  • Passion for ELM’s Purpose, Mission, Vision, and Values 
  • Commitment to centering racial justice and equity in ELM’s work and ensuring an inclusive organizational culture 
  • Understanding of Development strategies, systems, and processes 
  • Experience managing relationships with funders or other external constituents 
  • Superior written and oral communications skills 
  • Collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and independently 

Preferred

  • Experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Succes Pack (NPSP) 
  • Experience fundraising for non-profits, particularly those with a climate or clean energy focus 
  • Experience with 501(c)4 fundraising 
  • Understanding of environmental and climate issues and policy 

Compensation & Benefits: 

$75,000-90,000, depending on experience. ELM provides generous paid time off, health and dental insurance, a Health Savings Account, and a 403(b) retirement plan with an organizational match. 

This full-time role requires occasional morning and evening commitments outside of the standard 9-5 office hours. The position is based in Boston, MA and will require periodic travel within Massachusetts. ELM supports a hybrid work style and encourages but does not require staff to be in the office at least two days per week. Employees may use the office at their discretion and in accordance with current COVID-19 protocols.
